- Establish TNO’s role as the industry leader in tourism marketing and communications for the region by fostering communication and relationship-building within the sector.
- Align, coordinated and invest in marketing activities supporting implementation of the Strategic Direction for Tourism Marketing in Northern Ontario within the sub-regions, the region and aligning with provincial programming with OTMPC
Marketing is one of the cornerstones of all activity at Tourism Northern Ontario with over half of the annual budget being spent on marketing the region to domestic, border and international markets. The organization leads marketing activities with a consumer-first lens, using a philosophy of seamless borders for the visitor. Tourism Northern Ontario plans all marketing activity based on evidence-based decision making to ensure best-bet products and markets are explored to maximize positive results.
By working with several marketing partners including the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Northern Ontario Destination Marketing Organizations (Tourism Sault Ste. Marie, Sunset Country, etc.), and travel associations, Tourism Northern Ontario leads marketing initiatives to grow Northern Ontario’s consumer base.
In order to fulfill these goals, Tourism Northern Ontario has a dedicated Marketing and Communications Coordinator on staff. This individual works with stakeholders and partners to coordinate and deliver a consumer-first plan to meet pan-Northern goals.
Through several research and strategic planning activities, Tourism Northern Ontario has identified six priority products and experiences that are currently being marketed to consumers around the globe:
- Angling and Hunting
- Cultural and Heritage
- Gateway and Urban Communities
- Nature and Adventure
Wherever possible, Tourism Northern Ontario strives to align consumer branding with the provincial standard for greater reach, recognition in market and to maximize budgets. Currently, the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation is utilizing the Where Am I? campaign. Please email email@example.com if your organization would like more information on how to leverage this brand or for design standards.
